ShipStation is an officially approved TikTok Shipping provider. Merchants with a US TikTok Shop store can import their TikTok Shop orders into ShipStation API and generate shipping labels at TikTok's pre-negotiated rates.
For TikTok Shipping orders, TikTok provides the label. This guide covers what you need to know when you work with these orders through ShipStation API. For steps to connect a TikTok Shop store in the ShipStation dashboard, see our TikTok Shipping help article.
- A ShipStation account.
- A connected US TikTok Shop store.
- Orders imported for TikTok Shipping or Collections by TikTok (CBT) labels must include a physical product with a weight, dimensions, and a shipping address.
ShipStation has a TikTok order source for the UK, but connecting a UK TikTok Shop store does not automatically give you TikTok Shipping. TikTok Shipping is available only for US TikTok Shop stores.
TikTok Shipping is not a standalone carrier that you connect with its own credentials. When you connect a TikTok Shop store to ShipStation, ShipStation automatically sets up TikTok Shipping for that store.
- Each connected TikTok Shop store has its own TikTok Shipping carrier. A seller with three TikTok shops has three TikTok Shipping carriers.
- Each TikTok Shipping carrier has its own unique
carrier_id. All of them share thecarrier_codetiktok-shipping. - The TikTok Shipping carrier appears in your list of carriers.
- For a TikTok Shipping order, use the TikTok Shipping carrier that belongs to the same store as the order.
When you connect your TikTok Shop, ShipStation imports all of the following order types by default:
| Order type | Who provides the label |
|---|---|
| Seller Fulfilled | You choose your own carrier and service. |
| TikTok Shipping (Ship by TikTok) | TikTok provides the label. |
| Collections by TikTok (CBT) | TikTok provides the label. CBT orders import automatically and are locked into the TikTok Shipping experience. The label has a CBT watermark. |
To import only one order type, contact ShipStation support.
TikTok Shipping orders have an order setting named TikTokShippingType with the value TIKTOK. Match this exact value. Seller Fulfilled orders have the value SELLER.
Because TikTok determines the carrier and service for a TikTok Shipping order, creating a label works differently from other carriers:
- You cannot choose or change the carrier or service. The service code is
tiktok-shipping, and the carrier that ships the package is only revealed once the label is generated. - Weight and dimensions are required. They are the only details you can adjust before the label is generated.
- Each label supports one package. See the multi-package guide.
- Labels are 4x6.
See Create a label for the general label request.
| Feature | Seller Fulfilled | TikTok Shipping |
|---|---|---|
| Carrier and service choice | You select your preferred carrier | Selected by TikTok |
| Weight and dimensions | Fully editable | Editable to generate the label |
| Address edits | Supported | Not supported |
| Voiding labels | Supported in ShipStation | Contact TikTok support |
- Carriers: TikTok chooses the carrier from the following list: USPS, UPS, FedEx, LaserShip, OnTrac, Better Trucks, TForce, DHL eCommerce, Amazon Logistics, AxleHire, Lone Star Overnight, Deliver-it, GLS US, Spee-Dee Delivery, and Wizmo.
- Addresses: The ship-from and ship-to addresses cannot be edited in ShipStation. Most fields are locked once a TikTok order imports. If the information is incorrect, contact TikTok support.
- Voiding: TikTok Shipping labels cannot be voided in ShipStation. Contact TikTok support for assistance. See Void a label.
- Multi-package shipments: Not supported. TikTok Shipping supports only one package per label.
- Insurance: Additional insurance is not supported in ShipStation. TikTok Shipping provides up to $100 of insurance by default. See Parcel insurance.
- Delivery confirmation: Not supported. Requests that include a delivery confirmation are rejected.
- Third-party billing: Not supported. See Billing a third party.
- Pickups and manifests: Not supported. Contact TikTok support with questions about pickups. See Manifests and Schedule pickups.
- Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) orders: ShipStation does not import FBT orders.
- Tracking: Check the TikTok platform for the most up-to-date tracking status.
- Collections by TikTok (CBT): Certain orders have a CBT label, which you can identify by the CBT watermark. CBT orders require TikTok Shipping labels.
ShipStation API enforces the following rules for TikTok Shipping.
| Request | Rule |
|---|---|
| Label or rate | A TikTok Shipping order must use the TikTok Shipping carrier linked to its own store. |
| Label or rate | TikTok Shipping can be used only on TikTok Shipping orders. It is rejected for seller-fulfilled TikTok orders and for all other non-TikTok orders. |
| Label | The imported ship-to address must be preserved. Differences in letter case or surrounding whitespace, and null versus empty values, are not treated as changes. |
| Label | Insurance is not supported. |
| Label | Delivery confirmation is not supported. |
These rules apply to labels created individually and in a batch. Labels created without an order cannot use TikTok Shipping, because there is no order to verify.
If you request rates for TikTok Shipping alone and it is not eligible, the request returns a 400 error. If you request rates for several carriers, ineligible carriers are removed and the eligible carriers still return rates. When you supply carrier_ids, the removed carriers are reported in rate_response.errors, and the response can be a 207 mixed response.
